The Research focusing on urgent issues that Philadelphia city were facing, lead to a proposal that improved awareness of the role Schuylkill River plays in the functioning of the city.
WATER DAMS - Non Functional
The Water Dams were used to provide power to Industrial Zones along the River and to control Water flow so as to ease the transport of goods up and downstream. Now, however they do not serve their old purposes and act as barriers to the Migratory Aquatic life. Certain Dams, Such as the one at Fairmount are now used as Water storage infrastructure for the City’s needs.
